Cinque Ports
Education PDF Print E-mail

The Cinque Ports are a fascinating element of maritime history in Britain. We have therefore compiled an educational resource pack for use by teachers who may wish to use the Cinque Ports as an area of study.

The pack is intended as an information pack for teachers on the subject of the Cinque Ports in Kent and East Sussex. All of the contents of the pack can be copied and are copyright free.

It is a resource for teachers of pupils at Key Stage 2 and 3, aimed at Years 6 and 7 providing them with information, which can be used to support classroom work and can be adapted to suit the age and ability of their pupils.

In addition to the resource pack a DVD has been produced, presented by the renowned historian and TV presenter David Starkey. The DVD is 30 minutes in length and gives an introduction to the history of the Cinque Ports intermingled with the modern day traditions and ceremonies that still exist today.

The information contained in the pack and the supporting DVD provides a good basis for a project based on the history of the Cinque Ports in Kent and East Sussex. It will also support teachers who are planning outdoor activities at some of the historic attractions within the Cinque Ports area.
